Collaboration

iHMP researchers welcome collaborations and contributions from researchers interested in exploring the human microbiome. Please explore our site or visit the NIH Common Fund for a complete list of projects funded as part of the iHMP.

One area in which collaborations have already proven very fruitful is in the area of Reference Genome selection. A large percentage of the organisms chosen for sequencing as part of the Reference Genome collection were suggested and/or provided by collaborators with expertise in human-microbe interactions in specific body site areas. We continue to encourage and welcome feedback from the scientific community on the selection of strains to include in the Reference Genome collection. The iHMP has developed guidelines for inclusion of a strain in the Reference Genome collection.
